synopsis

They call it a "classic" for a reason, you know.

Galaxy Expresss 999 is the name of a train which travels through space, beginning at Megalopolis Station on one end of the galaxy ans terminating at Andromeda on the other. But the Galaxy Express is more than just a train -- it's also a metaphor for life itself, with passengers constantly boarding, debarking and dreaming along the way.

Tetsuro Hoshino is a youth who'll give anything to board the Three-Nine, including a promise to accompany a mysterious woman named Maetel all the way to Andromeda, the planet where, she tells him, he can get a free machine body to avendge the cruel death of his mother at the hands of the villanous Count Mecha.

But in a future where life is too cheap and cruelty too easy, nothing es ever really free, and along with meeting larger-than-life figures such as the diminutive Toochiro Oyama (genius engineer of the great space ship, Arcadia), famous space pirate Captain Harlock, or infamous female space trader Emeraldas, Tetsuro is about to learn the true price not only for boarding the GE 999 and avenging his mother, but for leaving his childhood behind, for falling in love... and for becoming a man.

Based on the long-running Japanese comic series by Star Blazers' Leiji Matsumoto, Galaxy Express 999: The Signature Edition is directed by acclaimed anime veterean Taro Run (Dagger of Kamui, Doomed Megalopolis, Harmagedon) and is presented in English UNCUT and UNEDITED for the first time ever. If this is you first time aboard the GE 999, you're about to find out why it's called a classic. If you're a return passenger, you'll never have a better chance to rediscover is magic than in this definitive Viz Video signature edition.

Galaxy Express 999: The Signature Edition from Viz Video: It took seventeen years, but you know what? It's still worth the wait.
