Hikaru no Go

genre: Drama

Fujiwara Sai was a Go master and teacher in the Heian capital Kyoto. Defeated in a match by a cheating opponent, Sai was forced to leave the capital and unable to come to grips with the ignominous defeat and shame, Sai subsequently drowned himself. However, his spirit was unable to rest wanting to continue to play Go and to master one last strategy.

His spirit, transcending time is woken by the voice of young Shindou Hikaru, a grade six student who is doing very poorly in social studies. Sai's spirit comes to possess Hikaru who agrees to play Go for Sai. However, Hikaru has no knowledge of the game and therefore decides to learn the game in order to understand Sai's love of the game and the strategy behind the moves he makes on Sai's behalf...
