Monthly PickApril 2001This is the first time we're trying this, so any feedback you can give would be most appreciated! Many folks out there have often asked what anime we suggest for those who are starting out in anime, or what anime would be good for those who like x, y, and z titles. While I usually suggest that people go to the Beginner's Guide to Anime for suggestions, here I'm going to give my personal choice for the month based on the videos that I watch. Some of the titles are new acquisitions while others are re-views. (compared to reviews of course!) So, on to the picks! Top VideoIma Sokoniiru BokuWith a great story, some really nice animation and music, this anime has really impressed me. Much akin to watching a TV serial version of Grave of the Fireflies, it portrays much of the same material without hammering home the images quite so fast or so harshly. Recently picked up by Central Park Media, it will be a title to watch for. Most Shocking SceneUnicoStarting off as a really cute children's anime for ages 3+, watching the scene where a demon falls from the roof of the castle only to be impaled on a spire was an incredible shock. There's nothing like feeling one's stomach fall through the floor! Guiltiest PleasureSlayer's GorgeousBeing completely predictable and exceedingly corny, for some reason you can't help but laugh at this video. I'm just glad we bought it used since I'd hate to have bought it new! Titles viewed:
