Detective Azusa-chan

Café Trivia

Shinseiki Evangelion

(Neon Genesis Evangelion)

question:

In episode 15, there is a key scene in which we see Rei inside an overgrown test-tube, which is surrounded by two sets of letters on the wall. What are these letters?

answer:

The letters are the short hand form for the nucleotides which make up DNA. The two strings represent the double-helix structure of DNA itself.

The letters are as follows:

C - cytosine
A - adenine
G - guanine
T - thymine

The nucleotides are unique in that only cytosine can pair up with guanine, and only adenine can pair up with thymine.
