Reviewer's Profile

Roy Kurano (12string)

e-mail:

I am 12 string. I have been bitten by the anime bug since I was a little kid, watching the likes on American TV as Kimba and Speed Racer (both TV series), plus some live action version of Ultraman. Once in a while, a San Francisco independent station airs out Japanese programming as well as other foreign language programming (Phillipines, Vietnamese, Chinese, Indian). During that time in the 70's, I happened to watch on that station animated versions of Japanese fairy tales, as well as Raideen, Doraemon, Ikkyu-san, Gattaiga, and a live version of Kikaider and Go-Rangers. On occasion, I also saw some animated soccer show (Capt. Tsubasa?).

During my college years, I saw my friends collect He-man action figures and watched the likes of He-man, GI-Joe, and She-Ra.

Until the 90's, my thirst for anime took effect when one of my friends has an anime collection in which my first is Castle of Cagliostro and Akira. I was totally hooked again. I am very fortunate to find a video store that rents out all sorts of anime (children, teens, even Hentai and other tentacled stuff) of a very wide range and scope and for a good rental price too, as well as the Blockbusters and Hollywood Video outlets.

I also have a band called TURN, which has a website and a solo music project.

But mostly, my passion is more like anime, music, and all other stuff.
