Reviewer's Profile

Roger Powell (Wingman)

Roger Powell was born and raised in the southern suburbs of Chicago. At an early age his middle class parents impressed upon him the main theme of his life. “Whatever you put your mind to, you can do!” Much to the chagrin of all involved, including his parents, they had failed to add the words “within reason.” In the ensuing years he would become both a failing student and make the Dean’s List, an aircraft refueler, A QC Inspector, cash register repair tech, computer technician, network administrator, project engineer, project manager, computer consultant, professional pilot, race car driver, long distance motorcyclist, and currently is teaching flying in the Chicago area.

Roger’s interest in Anime goes way back. A child of the first “cartoon generation”. He was babysat (is that a word?) by The Flintstones, The Jetson’s and Bugs Bunny. Between those shows as well as Speed Racer, Star Blazers, and Robotech Roger developed a life long love of animation and Anime. By no means a purist anime fan he enjoys American works as well. CGI doesn’t offend him, unless it’s poorly done and he even likes full CGA. ( Roger thinks Shrek is a great piece of work) Yes, even Disney. It has its place. One would even find if difficult to categorize him within the anime community. Roger enjoys a wide variety of anime aimed at widely varied audiences. Perhaps that is because Roger enjoys being a student of the art and observing how well each work fulfils its intended purpose.

Besides all that everyone should have SOMETHING that’s makes everybody look sideways at them.
