One hundred forty years ago, during the Bakumatsu fighting in Japan, there was a great fighter in Kyoto called Hitokiri Battousai. Hitokiri Battousai killed many people in the fight to bring about the new Meiji era. However, at the end of the final battle, Hitokiri Battousai was never to be seen again, and the name of Hitokiri Battousai became one of legend...

Parental Guidance Advised - As might be expected with a Japanese period piece, there's violence -- and sometimes lots of it. A fair amount of blood too, considering the fact that it's a TV series. People do get killed, especially in the movie. Some scenes of decapitation and headless bodies show up when Kenshin is remembering about his past as Hitokiri Battousai.
