Maze Megaburst Space

A Parent's Guide to Anime
Rated: M

Recommended for Mature Audiences

Reviewed by Brietta O'leary:

Imagine if you decided to blend Ranma 1/2 and Slayers. Then you'd get something along the lines of Maze.

Maze wakes up with an amnesia in a strange world to find that her house has fallen in a creature called a demihuman, and killed him. Later Maze discovers that she changes into a man at sunset, and changes back at sunrise. Not only does Male Maze like fighting, but he's also quite a skirt-chaser, hitting on every attractive female so he can get them in bed. Maze also finds out that she has the ability to manipulate phantom-light power, or FOLM.

Somehow Maze ends up babysitting a bratty runaway princess named Mil, who develops a crush on her "Big Sister Brother...

Parent's Guide Rating:

red (recommended for mature audiences)

OAV: The OAV features extreme violence (a character stabs someone, and blood comes shooting out) nudity, ( a king steals Maze's clothes so she won't escape from prison) and some provocative scenes (male Maze is hornier than ever, a young boy's front is shown, someone fondles Maze's chest). There is also a fair amount of swearing.

TV SERIES: The TV video series is much more appropriate. Although there is a bit of mild violence, some swearing (when Male maze gets mad, he says sh*t a lot, and Aster and Male Maze say damn a few times), and casual nudity in the ending credits (although there is some strategically placed hair). I would recommend being at least 12 to watch the TV series, and pretty mature to watch the OAV. Maze is incredibly funny, though.
