[ rated pg ] Silent Moebius

A Parent's Guide to Anime
Rated: PG
Parental Guidance Advised

Nihon's answer to Ghostbusters, but played in a serious format. Based on a famous manga of the same name, Moebius is actually a flashback that explains the origins of the manga. Knowledge of the manga isn't essential, though. The plot involves paranormal female police officers fighting demons, called Lucifer Hawks, that come to the Earth (why the demons do so is not fully explained; it might be a vacation spot for them). The dialogue has some mild cursing when characters get particularly angry. There is a segment of full-figure Barbie-like nudity when a ne'er-do-well Hawk decides to go after the protagonist while she's taking a shower. Violence includes some intense and spectacular sequences of fighting between officers and demons that result in some non-fatal injuries.
