Generator Gawl

genre: science-fiction / mecha

Three male teenagers endowed with the power to transform into deadly fighting machines (known as generators) return to the past in order to stop what may be considered the greatest political and scientific conspiracies of all times that threaten global peace eternally. Left with three months, they can only pit their limited mecha powers against brilliant and insane enemies, only to discover that the danger and complexity of the situation are far beyond their imagination...

Generator Gawl is a mecha-bishounen drama that receives far less attention than it deserves. While it is no epic, it still manages to stretch the limits of the genre that suffers from an overdose of testosterone-ridden angst and wicked action sequences through a faithful reliance on an intricate plot, intriguing themes and competent direction to sustain interest. If anything, watch Generator Gawl as an anti-dote to Neon Genesis Evangelion, Gundam Wing and possibly Blue Seed.
