Pure magic! That's the best way to describe this children's classic by (guess who?) Hayao Miyazaki. My Neighbor Totoro exists for no other reason but to transport you back in time to that age where make-believe was real and everything still retained that tiny tinge of magic and excitement. The U.S. release by Fox is what I consider to be the Perfect Dub, and the absolutely gorgeous countryside scenes will make you swear you can smell the daisies growing in the field. Totoro, To-to-ro!

The first major full-scale release of a Japanese title under a big-name distributor. Fox didn't risk a thing when it picked up distribution rights to Miyazaki's merchandising phenomenon. This fariy tale-like story has something for everyone, with an underlying environmental message to boot; this is the type of feature that Disney used to produce until it became just another marketing company. Excellent dub job by Macek & company, this deserves to be in everyone's video collection, whether you're a fan of anime or not.
