801 TTS Airbats Review by Billy Spiropoulos: This OVA contains three 30 min. episodes. 801 TTS Airbats (a.k.a. Aozora Shojotai) is a delightful romantic comedy about the members of an all-female aerobatic squadron in the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force. Plot mostly concentrates on two of the female pilots and their battle to win the affections of their somewhat shy male flight mechanic. There are plenty of hilarious moments as well as a few tear jerking ones to be had, and the depth of the three main characters is truly infectious. Watch out for some strong language (i.e. "d*mn," "sh*t," "b*tch,"), nudity (getting dressed, in the shower, as well as a couple of non-nude breast gags), and mild-to-moderate violence (including a nuclear blast, of all things). There is at least one "Top Gun"-style airplane scene in each episode, and the suspense factor of these may or may not scare some kids. A very good--if somewhat overlooked--anime that should do just fine for anyone older than elementary school age. I personally recommend the subtitled version.
